TOO TECH AIR TANK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Remove fork cap from the forks. |
Drill through hole in air bleed screw threads. Position cap in a vice and drill through the air release opening with a .339 drill bit (size "R"). NOTE: If you have stock triple clamps and handlebars, drill the hole about 4 degrees outwards. If you are using FAT bars or custom triple clamps, drill the hole at up to a 10 degree angle to provide additional clearance between the Air Line Fitting and the handlebars. (check clearance with forks mounted in clamps) |
Tap fork cap to the proper depth. Tap fork cap using a 1/8 NPT tap. With my tap, I tap to the height shown. (Note the end of the threaded portion of the tap is even with the adjuster surface.) Some type of lubricant (WD40) will facilitate easier tapping. Note: Since 1/8 NPT is actually a tapered thread, the tap depth will determine how far down the brass adapter will thread into the fork cap. – It is always possible to go back and re-tap the threads deeper so do not tap too deep the first time.
Install the brass adapter into the fork cap. Wrap the 1/8 NPT threads of the brass adapter with 2 wraps of Teflon tape. Using a 7/16” wrench, tighten the brass adapter until the top of the 7/16” hex is flush with the top of the fork cap – see picture. Note: If the brass adapter is
still loose at this installation height, take it out and wrap it with 3 or
4 wraps of Teflon tape and reinstall. |

INSTALL STRAIGHT BRASS FITTING
for "Standard Bars" Wrap the fitting with Teflon tape and tighten it into the cap using a 7/16" (11mm) wrench. |
